Uniform & Equipment

Students should wear their uniform with pride.

We have two uniform suppliers who both offer online ordering (please note that the grey PE hoodie is only available from Coniston Corporate).

Lower School students (Years 7, 8 and 9) wear a silver tie and have the option to wear a grey v-neck jumper whereas Upper School students (Years 10 and 11) wear a maroon tie and have the option to wear a black v-neck jumper.

School bags should be big enough to carry A4 folders and books and keep them dry; most students bring rucksacks to school. Handbags are not allowed.

PE kit should be purchased from Kendal Sports. Please note that we are phasing out the maroon skort – it is still acceptable to wear a maroon skort for PE but all new purchases should be black.

Ethically and Responsibly Sourced Uniform

  • Suppliers adhere to an ethical initiative base code of practice that ensures a clean, safe environment and fair wages
  • Uniform is carbon neutral
  • Blazer fabric made from 100% plastic bottles

Pre loved Uniform

New to You is run by a small team of parent volunteers.  They stock  clean, good condition pre loved QKS logoed uniform and PE kit - donated when it is outgrown or when students leave school.  All monies raised goes back to students in the form of treats or towards outings.

Please follow the links for our uniform guidelines.

Equipment at QKS

It is important to have the correct equipment for every lesson.

Equipment can be purchased from the LRC or School Shop. Please purchase your scientific calculator through school – it is not only cheaper (£8.50) but it is helpful to students if they all have the same calculator in lessons.

  • Water bottle
  • two black or blue pens
  • pencil (with rubber and sharpener)
  • ruler
  • mini whiteboard and drywipe pen (can be purchased at school for £1)
  • protractor
  • compass
  • scientific calculator (can be purchased through school, £8.50)
  • 5 different coloured pencils or highlighters
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • earphones
  • protective exercise book covers
  • A4 sized zip bag
  • purple pen

Water bottle

We require students to bring a pre-filled water bottle to school to avoid queues and potential contact at the water dispensers.

There are water dispensers in both dining halls and all tap water is suitable to drink. Drinking water regularly is healthy and aids concentration – it is also better for the environment and is significantly cheaper than buying drinks from the canteen.
