Child Development at QKS

We aim to ensure students prepared to become parents and make appropriate choices for themselves, babies and young children and promote health and well-being.

Key Stage 3

Students can opt for Child Development in Year 9.

They will learn about roles of the family, childcare provision, preparing for a baby, understanding of developmental types and norms and types of play and ideas activities (reading, creative, toys).

Year 9 Summary

Key Stage 4

Students first learn to understand issues relating to the health and wellbeing of children.

As students’ knowledge progresses, they will use and apply this knowledge as they investigate and understand the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to five years and observe and analyse the development norms for a specific child.
